About Me
I am currently a senior at Althoff Catholic High School. I was talking to some of my friends from the previous year's CEO class, and I was interested in learning more about becoming an entrepreneur.
I am involved in many clubs and extra-curricular activities in and outside of school. I am a member of concert band, pep band, and marching band. I play the guitar for the liturgical choir. I started a chess club and a Dungeons and Dragons club at school, but due to time constraints, I am no longer in them. I tutor grade school students in math, and I have held many leadership positions. I taught first and second grade PSR at St Mary's 2015-2016. I was the president of Venturing Crew 3, and I am an Eagle Scout. I am in show choir and Model UN, and I am also involved in drama. I am on the bowling team, and during my sophomore and junior year, I was a member of the tennis and golf team. I was nominated my Althoff Catholic to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum: National Security-Diplomacy, Intelligence, & Defense, an Envision Program in Washington D.C. for two years in a row.
I am an extrovert and very outgoing, and hardworking, and goal oriented. Once I set my mind on something, it is going to happen. After high school, I plan to get my Masters in either communications or psychology and become a Chaplain in the United States Air Force.
About My Business
My Featured Journal Entries
I think the trade show went really well, except for the fact that I only sold one thing. Everyone said I had a really good idea, and that they liked it, but no one bought anything. I did have a lot of interest in custom orders though, so that is a good thing. I have to go through my email today and see if I got any orders. It should be interesting to see how this business turns out down the road. I want to move into more decor and not just lamps, so I think that will drum up some more business.

Monday was Mentoring Monday, and I’m surprised only two mentors showed up, but I am happy that one of them was mine. There are a few things he cannot help me with, because he only does online sales, however, he was able to help me set up an online store. I do not know what I will use yet; whether it is Etsy, or eBay, or even Amazon, but he gave me some insight on which platforms offer the best deals, and the different shipping prices. I am thinking of starting out with eBay because that is the platform I am most familiar with. I have sold a few things on there before, so I’ll try that out.
On Tuesday, we went to Gaslight Vinyl, and that was probably one of the coolest places we’ve been to. That kind of stuff really excites me. I appreciated that Greg told us how it is in the real world too. They have really long hours, and they’re just not paying off all of their equipment. Running a business isn’t as easy as a lot of people think. It takes a lot of money and sacrifices, and the truth is, not everyone is going to be successful, so you have to make your decisions very carefully, and you have to be prepared to give it your all. Me, for instance; I always want to get the new, shiny, best thing, and that is not good in a business. You need to learn that getting the best of everything isn’t necessarily going to make your business or project the best. It’s how you can utilize the things you already have.
It’s also good for a company, or a person, to have core values, or statements that everyone should live by. Sometimes, having core values is what makes customers choose you instead of the competitor. They show that you’re down to earth, and that you will work for them, and not for yourself. I am worried a little on how many lamps I am going to sell at the trade show, since I have sold none so far. I don’t know if it is the pricing, or what, but I’ll still make more, and we’ll see how it goes.

So last week we did not have to do a journal because our main goal was to sell tickets before time ran out. So far, I have sold 21 tickets, however, I sold tickets to the family members of the contestants. I am worried because at least three or four of the contestants never responded on their family buying tickets, so I hope it goes well.
Last week, we had a few speakers. One of them was Vince Ojeda. He is the CEO of Envision Health Labs. He actually had a lot of wisdom to impart on us, such as the iceberg of success. An iceberg shows around 11% of itself. (The finished product) but everything you don’t see, is underwater. (The time you've spent, the money, the teamwork, the late nights etc.) it really does take a team to accomplish something, and without every person, the project would crumble.
JoAnn DiMaggio-May came to our class also this week and last, to talk about our personal businesses, and where we wanted to eventually take them. She sat down with each one of the students and went over their business concepts, and what their target markets are, and how to start a business plan. She helped us immensely with our class business plan, and so we have a better idea of how to start our own individual plans. Now, this week, we went to FKG Oil and met with Todd Badgley. This was the most exciting and immersive place we’ve been. We played a game of Jeopardy that reflected everything that he told us, and I think that was helpful because I still remember it without having to see what I wrote. We also had breakfast, and got to see all of the vintage gas signs. I am more of a tactile person, so I like being able to do things instead of just sitting and listening to someone talk for an hour and a half.
