Mr. Perles did an exercise to show that you have to stay focused, sometimes you have to stop and help your teammates so they don't become overwhelmed, and you have to develop a rhythm.

I am a senior at Belleville East High School. After hearing about the CEO Program from a fellow student, I applied to be a part of the program and am very excited to get a closer look at the business world.
Sports are a big part of my life. I currently play lacrosse and wrestle. I also play ice hockey in my free time with my friends.
I serve as secretary for the Future Business Leaders of America club at my school. I also enjoy being a server for Royel Catering.
I am outgoing, intelligent, and very passionate about the things I do. After graduation, I plan to join the Navy and leave during the summer of 2018. My goal is to be a Navy SEAL.
About My Business
My Featured Journal Entries
The weeks of CEO are coming to a close it’s been great, and I’m going to miss all the new friends that I’ve made through this class because they’ve become like a second 7:30 AM family. I’ve enjoyed almost every minute of being around these people and everything that we’ve gone through together has really made me a better person. But anyway, this week and CEO we were full of speakers. I had two favorites this week.
My first favorite was the clothing store and I just thought how it was really neat that Belleville still had an independent retail clothing store. I thought it was really interesting how the owner wouldn’t care so much about the customers’ needs and wants and what really focus on the seasons and what was in style and will also attend as fashion shows multiple times a year just to make sure that you got what the customers would want. I actually want to go check out his store and see how it operates and runs. I think it would be a really cool thing to see.
My next favorite which is actually my most favorite was the Skype session with the Super League Gaming CEO. I just thought it was really cool because I myself am a gamer I’m not a super hard-core gamer, but I am a gamer and I just really thought that I could connect with this presentation on a more personal level. I’ve been playing games since I was little, and I had PSP and my brother had a PlayStation 2. And then we got a Wii and me and my brother would play Wii sports, then we would play college duty on the Wii and then he got an Xbox and we started playing on that and then I got an Xbox and then I got another Xbox so video games have really always been a presence in my house and there really wasn’t a point in time in my life where me and my brother did not have some kind of console in the house with us. I really liked how she had created something for people who weren’t as great at the game as the pros, I had always watched MLG videos and watch their tournaments and watch them play the games and they were great and you know people want to be like them but they just they don’t have that kind of skin the game I guess. This business really gives them a chance to show people how good they are at a game and get a chance to be recognized by the pros.

The trade show went great! I thought everyone’s businesses were presented well and some people including me sold their products or services. I’m glad we have completed all our tasks and now I just have to sit back and wait to see who wins the award!

The speakers of this week were amazing especially, Geneoscopy. They really presented the information on their business in a way that all the students could understand it. And they provided us with 10 great lessons they’ve learned, and the one that was has stuck with me is, “if you want to take the island, burn the boats”. This is said by Julius Caesar and I believe it as if you want to commit to something such as taking the island. Then you need to cut off everything that could take you away from that in this case the boats.

Trep start day at the SLU campus kicked off this week of CEO. Trep start is an annual event that involves all the young entrepreneurs of the area coming together and meeting young entrepreneurs. Most of the panel of entrepreneurs had been on Shark Tank. The panel started by introducing themselves. This allowed all of the students in the audience to learn about who they were and what they sold. Also we got to meet the CEO of Sky Zone trampoline park, Jeff Platt. Jeff was very interesting. He started off with one location and slowly moved to another and then another and now he owns over 200 locations. The one thing I really liked about his speech was that he talked about what things young entrepreneurs should really focus on in order to be successful. After speech we broke off into a breakout sessions, every student got two breakout sessions. How many sessions we would meet with one of the young entrepreneurs on the panel. They would talk very briefly about their story and their business, and then they would give their lesson for the day. My first one was “for 10 things I learned as a young entrepreneur” I really enjoyed this one because it showed kind of how being a young entrepreneur really is. It’s not just something simple and easy it takes time and it takes a lot of effort. Well the hardest things that I think I took from that was that it’s really hard to be taken seriously because were so young. Also The speaker in that session told the group how they could take a product already made and change it and make it better and I believe that that is the key for future entrepreneurs because with so many products already in the world it’s hard to make a new one.
After this session my second one was about leadership. Which is something I always focus on. I always like to be a leader and I consider myself a natural leader. In this, the speaker taught the class about the good qualities of a leader and the bad qualities of a leader. The main thing I took from that was the leader is great with communication because if you can’t communicate with your team you will ultimately fail and I believe this connects to our class business because if we don’t communicate it won’t work.
The next thing that was very important this week was the visit to the Chamber of Commerce. These ladies, all three of them, work in the office by themselves. Every day is a busy day. But they communicate with each other and stay on task and work hard together. I believe this is what makes the Chamber of Commerce so successful. They care very much for the town and the people in it. The Chamber is always willing to lend a hand to whoever. A great example is our class, we talked about our class business for maybe five minutes and they were already willing to help us.

This is it. Our last week at Allsup, it is been great and the people there are amazing. We are now moving to Precision practice management and honestly I feel like I’m going to forget. It’ll make for a good story though. These last few weeks have been a little difficult. Luckily we were always in class almost 90% of the week so it allowed us to get lots of class time to work on our business. We have had a few guest speakers, one of them was Mr. Eilers and his personal business on Etsy. His business is very interesting actually. I’m also kind of glad that we learned about the website Etsy because I think it will help the class when we want to open up our Belleville CEO store.
We also were visited by Mrs. DiMaggio-May and she came and talk to us about setting up a Business plan and that was terrifying. She explained everything, well almost everything, to us. The deeper we got into it, the more and more became stressful. It really showed us as a class what we are going to have to do for our class business and our personal business. I’m very glad she visited us because it really helped me personally prepare for what I am going to have to do for my personal business.
Now the class business in my opinion is going pretty well. We have two great CEOs, Nick and Ian, they really keep the class moving when they can. I was put in charge of the food and venue committee and I tend to work very closely with the guys that way they know what’s going on at all times. Some of the groups, in my opinion, are slacking off a little bit or people just aren’t in a group and because of that they do nothing which really does not help at all. But every week and every class day we get we are working closer and closer to a common goal of this class business. I think it’s going to be great the people I tell the idea about the business also think it’s going to be great and I am very excited to see how this goes.
Another thing that’s been the back of my mind is my personal business. I was originally going to do a fitness box, it would be kind of like a subscription type of purchase. You would pay a certain amount and I would send you certain items in a box, something different every month. Now the more and more I thought about this I realized it’s not gonna work for me personally, and this is because I’m leaving for boot camp July 17, and my thought process is what if this takes off, and then I leave. Nobody can run the business, I can’t run the business from Boot Camp, And I don’t want to have people subscribe for three months and then me just say that I’m shutting it down because I’m leaving. So I’ve been thinking of a couple ideas and I hope and I can really get one set in stone soon.
