This Thursday, Mr. Ransom Wuller really opened my eyes to the brilliant technological advances that are possible for our society. I learned about the functions of RADAR and LIDAR and how AEye’s creation, iDAR can change the autonomous car industry forever. I found it interesting that Tesla does not use LIDAR in their products; AEye can possibly capitalize in a huge way from Tesla as their products continue to advance and become smaller parts. Mr. Wuller also explained to us the difference between SPAC and deSPAC, and the process of going from a private to public company. He discussed some things that he and the company have learned along the way as well. AEye’s products are what Mr. Wuller considers “end game products”, which is why he said that the company struggled at the beginning of their existence and is why he emphasized to us the importance of knowing your market. This is something that we have heard from several speakers this year, which is why I know it is so crucial to a business’ success; the repetition of this advice is a great example of what is discussed in this week’s chapter of Things You Wish You Knew Yesterday, “Repetition of Good”. He also told us about what it really means to have the right people investing in your business and that it is not always about the amount of money that they offer, but it is also about what they bring to the table as a whole. Mr. Wuller’s role in AEye is a great example of how a passion or interest can turn into an amazing business idea, and that is how I plan to create the foundation for my personal business.
