Throughout my time in the CEO class, I experienced significant growth in my communication, organization, and leadership skills. Serving as treasurer required me to stay organized and detail-oriented, ensuring the class always had an accurate understanding of our finances. By tracking funds and creating financial projections, I helped the class evaluate our progress and make informed business decisions.
One of my biggest areas of growth was communication and confidence. At the beginning of the year, I struggled with presenting myself and speaking in front of others. However, through experiences like the pitch competition and regular interactions with business professionals, I became more comfortable expressing my ideas. These opportunities pushed me outside my comfort zone and helped me develop stronger pitching and public speaking skills.
In leadership roles, I led the sponsorship committee and contributed to the finance team, both of which were important to the success of our class business and talent show. Through these experiences, I learned how to organize tasks, delegate responsibilities, and make sure team members understood their assignments. One of the biggest challenges I faced was securing food sponsorships when some team members were unable to visit assigned locations on time. This created pressure and forced me to adapt quickly by finding new sponsors. From this experience, I learned the importance of accountability, time management, and problem-solving.
Additionally, I learned to value personal interactions more. Early in the program, I was nervous speaking with mentors and business owners, but over time I became more confident and intentional about making a strong impression. These experiences improved my soft skills and ability to build professional relationships.
Overall, the CEO program has prepared me for future opportunities, especially in pursuing a career in business. The skills I developed in communication, leadership, financial management, and relationship-building will be valuable in both college and my future career. This experience helped me grow not only as a student, but also as a future professional.
