Mr. Schauster said one of his proudest moments was our home base, building owned by Kurt Artinger. The TIF money helped move his business to Belleville, keep a historic building from being torn down and saved the city money from demolition costs.

About Me
I am a senior at Belleville East High School. I grew up around people who were in the business industry. I applied to the Belleville CEO Program because I want a first-hand experience at what it is like to be in a business industry.
When I am not at school, I like to read, help my mom around the house, and at her nail salon. My goals are to work hard, be successful, and make my family proud. I want to do my best and prove myself that I can accomplish these goals and continue to have more goals to reach in the future.
After graduation, I plan to attend a college somewhere in St. Louis such as St. Louis University or University of Missouri St. Louis.
About My Business
My Featured Journal Entries
I feel like the trade show went great. I was talking to many people during the trade show. There were some people who were interested in my business. I also seen how many people were also interested in the other products and services the class had. I had a wonderful time at the trade show and it was nice to see my mentor (Nancy) there too. I did not expected that I would talk to many people that night but I was wrong. It was a busy day, but I feel like the whole class came together and I had a great time at the trade show.

This week we got the chance to meet with Mayor Mark Eckert. He is a nice person and he was interested in listening to. I liked how he told us about how he started as mayor and what the process as a mayor is like. It was interesting because he told us about how the city hall began and how the buildings were changed throughout the years. I learned that the building we went to meet Mayor Eckert was not the same building as from previous years and that they had use an old building to build the current city hall. I did not know that and I had always thought it was there since the beginning. He also showed the “board” (is that what it was called?) room where leaders make decisions. He told us that it is well protected because they have bullet proof glass windows, a security guard, and somewhere to duck when the situation gets bad. He is an interested person and I am so happy that I had the chance to meet the mayor of Belleville for the first time. It was an honor to have met the mayor and I hope our class gets to see him once again. We also talked about our event and what we have so far. I hope we can finish what is needed and I want this event to be successful.

This week we went to Thouvenot, Wade, & Moerchen and Auffenberg Auto Mall. First we met with Roland Thouvenot and it was very interested. I found out that TWM was an engineering firm and learn what they daily. I also got to meet with the geospatial team they have and they gave us a demonstration of how they would scan the area. It was interesting because the used a drone to scan the outside of the building and the inside a special tool that was used. I liked how they try to keep up their business with new and current technology that is available. They were interesting people and I learned so much from them from their perspective.
Then we got to meet with Jaime Auffenberg of Auffenberg Auto Mall and I learned so many new things I had never known before. I learned about how people earn from commission and how much they earned each month. I also learned that they lower car prices so that people can buy but if they can’t sell it then they put it to an auction which is interesting because I thought that if they can not sell a car they they would have thrown it out and I never knew knew that they can put it up for auctioning. I learn many new things from TWM and Auffenberg and surprisingly I want to learn a little bit more from them.

This is week 13 of Belleville CEO and we had two guest speakers and class days. We had Wendy Witte and Jason Eding speak to us about their jobs. First we had Wendy Witte of Greater St. Louis Community Foundation come speak to us. It was very interested because I get to know how the process of getting correct sponsor for our CEO class. She was very interested and I learned a lot from her. She gave us this packet which is really helpful for us because we can determine our food and ticket price and determine the charitable price for it. She had a lot interesting things she talked about and I am glad to have met her.
Then we got to meet with Jason Eding of PPM’s director of IT. He talked about his job and explained the importance of Internet and protecting someone’s record. I did not realized how difficult his job can be because every day he and his team has to make sure the system is updated so that no hackers can break into their system. It was interested because I never knew this is what IT does for a living and I get to hear from Jason Eding what it is like. I liked how he gave us some pointers about applying for a job. He gave us some good pointers we can use to try to get a job in the future which is great. Both he and Wendy Witte gave us some really good information to use later in life.
Last week we meet with Derek Betz of Fletcher’s Kitchen and Tap. He talked about how he worked for a business and decided to own his own business. He also talked about his struggles with previously trying to buy a Fletcher’s 2. I liked how honest he was with owning his business and how it can be very difficult sometimes. He said to us that we can either be a “pig” or a “chicken” in the business industry. It was nice to meet him and see his perspective about business through his success and failure.
Then we got to meet with Amy Tarr of Midland Institute. Amy Tarr is a very interesting person because of how energetic she seems. She is a very cool person and I liked the way she talked. She talked with high confidence and one day I want to have high confidence and talked to people the way she talked to us.
This week we had class days and we decided to have the event a Scottish Rite. So we decided a venue and now we have to work on decorations, catering, and advertisement. We are trying our best so that we cannot let the CEO class down. I believe we can accomplish this goal as a class and be successful.
