About Me

Hello! My name is Kyla Jones and I’m a senior at Belleville West. I love to do crafts, draw, roller skate, bake, and play video games in my free time. Although I no longer do theater, I love to support local productions and watch plays. Speaking on the community, I wanted to join Belleville CEO to give back to the downtown business specifically. Me and my brother have grown up here and noticed something strange. “Where are the bakeries? Where are the gluten-free places that start popping up once you leave Belleville?” I want to be the reason those questions don’t exist anymore.

My dream goal is to make a gluten-free and dairy-free bakery that is affordable in pricing. I come from a family with food intolerances and allergies, leaving us to be mostly vegan and nightshade free. However, trying to find places that are gluten-free, maybe even dairy free, tastes good, and isn’t $15 dollars for a small cookie? It’s hard. I want people to walk to a bakery and know that they can eat a good tasting treat with their friends and not be embarrassed to take a cookie from somewhere else to eat with them, or just not being able to eat with them. I was that kid before, it sucks.

So, I want to give back, but I also want to change and improve the lives of Belleville, even if it is small.
